Introduction: Research and Planning

For my coursework, I will be creating my own opening sequence for a film from a genre of my choice. The opening sequence may introduce a character, identify the genre or create mystery for the audience. It will also include titles such as the name of the film and names of actors.

To begin with I will look at a number of different sequences from different genres to look for similarities and differences, and to get a better understanding of the conventions of opening sequences. The films are "The Greatest Showman", "Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets" and "Hannah Montana".

Test Footage / Practising Filming a Range of Shots

We filmed some practise shots to get used to the camera. We shot a range of different shots and camera movements which will help us when we film for the final time. Here are some examples:

Titles For Our Opening Sequence

We have used After Effects to create the titles that will appear on our opening sequence. These titles include: the name of the director, the names of the main actors, the names of the producers and the title of the film. We will add these titles once we have organised the editing of the footage.
